Nurturing Justice Presents: Reclaiming the Sacred

Reclaiming the Sacred is a three-part workshop series for those longing to reconnect with a spirituality rooted in love, liberation, and belonging.

In Decolonizing the Divine, we remember a God beyond control and hierarchy—a Divine grounded in healing and shared liberation. In Whiteness and the False Self, we enter sacred space to reflect on whiteness as a false identity and return to the True Self that knows humility, interconnectedness, and deep belonging. And in Theology at the Threshold, we honor the in-between—gently releasing what no longer serves and listening for the sacred truths waiting to be born.

Workshop 1: “Decolonizing the Divine: Exploring God, Power, and Whiteness”

This workshop invites participants to explore how whiteness and colonialism have shaped dominant images and understandings of God, particularly within Western spiritual and religious traditions. It uses a decolonial lens to help participants unlearn theological constructs that uphold hierarchy, domination, and exclusion—and to begin the reclamation of liberating, ancestral, and Earth-rooted spiritual truths. Through story, silence, discussion, and spiritual reflection, we move toward a vision of the Divine that heals, includes, and liberates.

Workshop 2: “Whiteness and the False Self: A Contemplative Approach to Dismantling White Supremacy”

This contemplative workshop invites white-identified individuals and spiritual communities committed to racial justice into a deep, interior exploration of whiteness as a false self—an egoic identity rooted in fear, superiority, and separation. Drawing on inter-spiritual wisdom and contemplative practice, participants will engage in honest reflection, somatic awareness, and sacred listening to disidentify from the internalized structures of white supremacy and reconnect with their True Self—the self that knows belonging, humility, and love.

Workshop 3: “Theology at the Threshold: Liminality, Loss, and Rebirth”

This immersive workshop is a sacred space for those navigating the thresholds of faith and identity—where inherited theologies no longer serve, but new forms have yet to fully emerge. Drawing on contemplative practice, decolonial wisdom, and communal ritual, we explore the disorientation, grief, and potential inherent in spiritual unraveling. We begin by naming what must be left behind—beliefs, theologies, and identities rooted in domination—and move through silence, storytelling, and creative ritual to make space for what is becoming. Together, we practice spiritual repair not by rebuilding old structures, but by honoring what was lost and listening deeply for what comes next.

Presented by Rev. David Didio: Rev. David Didio is an ordained interfaith minister, certified Holistic life coach and master level Reiki healer. A published author, Rev. David is deeply committed to racial healing, social justice and healing.

Dates: The First Saturdays of October, November, and December from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Central.
