Rabbi Bonnie Margulis, Rev. Nick Upthall and Rabbi Renee Bauer, and Rev. Erica Liu all volunteered as poll chaplains in the 2020 election. Thank you to Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice for the photos.
The Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign (WIVEC), a joint project of Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice and the Wisconsin Council of Churches, has the goal to engage the interfaith community in the democratic process. WIVEC believes engaging in this work will build increased understanding and stronger ties among different faith communities; increase engagement in the electoral process; and result in a greater understanding by faith communities of the influential role they can play in the public square.
Following the work done in 2020, WIVEC is once again looking to train clergy as volunteer Poll Chaplains to provide a pastoral presence for those waiting outside of polling places this November 8. Poll chaplains can provide spiritual care, a peaceful presence, and a calming influence at the polling place. WIVEC is partnering with Faith in Public Life to provide training to prepare clergy to engage in this work.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please click on the link below to sign up.
Once WIVEC has confirmed and finalized training dates, we will email those clergy leaders who are interested.
