Presented by The Clergy Emergency League and The Wisconsin Council of Churches

This panel discussion will provide clergy and congregations with information and guidance to deal with attacks against their prophetic ministry.

Online trolls, doxxing (sharing personal information online), and threats to churches and other houses of worship are on the rise.  Hate groups and domestic terrorist organizations are targeting clergy and congregations to intimidate, silence, and perpetrate violence against them.

In this discussion we will hear from clergy who have navigated these kinds of attacks. Our special guests will be Mr. James L. Santelle, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and Mr. Parkeep Kaleka, both of whom worked together to heal their community in the aftermath of the 2012 mass shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Participants will learn:

  • How to assess the level of threat
  • Steps for putting an action plan in place to respond to threats or incidents
  • Advice for building a community of support before or after threats or attacks

Panelists:
JAMES L. SANTELLE, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin
PARDEEP KALEKA, co-director of Not In Our Town, specializing in community hate prevention and de-radicalization specialist with Parents4Peace, assisting families & individuals entrenched in extremism offramp from hateful ideologies
