Where do WE go from here?

No one would seriously argue against the idea that COVID has been hard on communities of all sizes, from the largest cities to the smallest towns. The pandemic hindered every support imaginable: schools, libraries, health care, and yes, churches. COVID also revealed the many inequities in the American health system. It made them all worse, too.

We recently wrapped up our COVID Community Solutions grant. That was the second of our Vaccination Community Outreach projects. This grant was led by the very able Rev. Teresa Thomas-Boyd. Pastor Teresa, as everyone calls her, is a master not just of ministry, but of community organizing. We already miss her presence on staff.

Being healthy as individuals and as a community involves, among other things, making the choice to stay connected. Pastors and other leaders who shape vision should work to develop imagination for connection now.
