The WCC invites your participation in a webinar of Thursday, February 23 to learn more about becoming a site for the second annual safe surrender of firearms movement.

Twelve congregations in communities around the country, including Midvale Community Lutheran Church in Madison, held safe surrender of firearms events in June, 2022 for the first annual guns to garden tools buyback. The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, a leader in building the guns to gardens movement, under the leadership of Rev. Deanna Hollas, offers training to congregations and leaders for best practices as how to plan for and how to implement safe surrender events.

The Wisconsin Councilof Churches is coordinating with retired pastor and blacksmith Jeff Wild to support the safe surrendermovement and is offering an informational zoom session at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 23. Pastor Hollas will share the background and rationale for congregations’ involvement in the safe surrender movement and provide an overview of training offered during five, one hour action circle sessions held weekly beginning on Thursday, March 2.
