Home for the Holidays: Welcoming Afghan Families
We are looking for 5 churches that will prepare a home for an Afghan family moving to Milwaukee.
Lutheran Social Services has 5 homes that need to be prepared for a family and this is a perfect project for a church this holiday season. Each church will be asked to collect donations or purchase everything that is needed to outfit a home (a list of specific items will be provided). Though some items will need to be purchased new (mattresses & bedding), many items are easily collected through donations. Your church will then coordinate a “move-in day” when you will clean the apartment, transport all your collected items to Milwaukee (you will need multiple vehicles or to rent a box truck), and set up the home.
We are looking for 5 churches to sign up by December 17th.
Move-in dates will be before December 31st so that families can be welcomed in the new year.
