Now Hiring: Volunteer Coordinator for Refugee Relief & Resettlement
Join the WCC’s staff team in a part-time role focused on coordinating systems, and providing surge support to Afghan refugee relief and resettlement agencies.
This is a half-time salaried position eligible for benefits (PTO, retirement and health/dental), available immediately. We expect this position to last one to two years subject to funding availability and community needs.
The Volunteer Coordinator will assist in establishing a collaborative faith-based volunteer project that complements and strengthens the work of already-existing refugee and crisis service agencies in Wisconsin. They will document process and procedures for use in future crises. As funding, need, and collaborative agreements permit, their work will span the period of crisis placement and resettlement in individual homes across the state of Wisconsin. This staff member will report to the Ecumenical Innovation Director and have the opportunity to work remotely and in the field directly with partners according to program needs. Candidates anywhere in the state may apply, as long as they have reliable high-speed internet and transportation for travel within the state of Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Council of Churches is an intentionally Christian institution working in ecumenical and interfaith collaborations. Candidates must be respectful of multiple faiths and able to maintain a commitment to not proselytize in interfaith settings. Well-prepared candidates will have demonstrated experience in volunteer coordination and recruitment, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, relational intelligence, and strong knowledge of the Wisconsin context. They should be comfortable speaking with strangers and able to work well in person and online. Clear communication and attention to detail is a must. Familiarity with immigration and refugee issues would be a plus.
