WISCONSIN INTERFAITH VOTER ENGAGEMENT CAMPAIGN URGES PATIENCE WHILE EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED

November 6, 2020 – The WI Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign is celebrating today, as we rejoice that Election Day was conducted with integrity, with few disturbances, and with a record-breaking turnout of voters!

We recognize that the election is too close to call and ballots are still being counted in 5 states. We want to remind everyone that a multi-day period of counting votes was expected. We urge you to trust the process and understand the critical importance of ensuring that every vote is counted.

We are excited to say Wisconsin poll workers were able to stick it out and get our ballots counted faster than anticipated. Wisconsin voter turnout was an incredible 73% this election! We congratulate and extend our gratitude to all those who worked so hard to get out to vote this year. Now we work to stay calm and united, regardless of the results.

There will likely be a preliminary winner declared this weekend.  However, we must remain prayerful and attentive as the process continues, while states determine their final results and appoint their electors, which could be as late as December 8.

We pray for continuing calm across our state and nation and look forward to a peaceful transition of power, as has been the case throughout our nation’s 244-year history.
