Intern Signing Off

“Intern, Signing Off.” – Reflections from Nicole Herda
Nicole Herda, an Mdiv student at Eden Seminary, was a spring intern at WCC. Below she shares her reflections on her work with us. We are so thankful for all Nicole added to our ministry and wish her luck as she continues her theological studies!

Intern, signing off. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Wisconsin Council of Churches as an intern. As a student at Eden Theological Seminary, I have appreciated the opportunity to learn from Executive Director Kerri, Peter, Rev. Breanna and Johnna about the many projects they are focused on. Each week there are opportunities to participate in writing, gathering and sharing information about COVID protocols, updating the website/database, programs and organizations to learn about, and most importantly spending time with our partners. I am thankful for zoom meetings that gather coalitions of ecumenical and interfaith partners along with including faith-based non-profit organizations. These partnerships have become collaborations which create resources, webinars, and training opportunities that help educate and support the Church and the community. Each partnership is focused on loving our neighbors through relationships and working together.
Wisconsin Council of Churches also taught me some technical skills: how to use Canva to create headings for the website/Facebook, learning how to update the website, experiencing how to use and update the database, creating Google Forms to make surveys, and collaborating on projects through Google. Each person on staff has shared some of their time, teaching me new skills and helped bridge opportunities, I am grateful. Every person I have met through the Wisconsin Council of Churches has been amazing and I am so thankful for the time you shared with me.
Before I leave, I signed up for E-news so I can attempt to keep up with the Wisconsin Council of Churches, recognizing the many resources and opportunities they are constantly rolling out online. I also registered for the For a New Creation retreat in a box, as I have heard about some exciting podcast speakers, supportive donors, and about some of the items that are included in the mailing. Hopefully, you are also taking advantage of the great opportunities the Wisconsin Council of Churches is offering. We are blessed here in Wisconsin to have an organization like this and I am so thankful I got to spend this Spring semester with you. Peace to you, Nicole
