2013 Washington Island Forum – June 24-28, 2013 with Brian McLaren

Presenter: A former pastor and college English teacher, Brian D. McLaren is an author, speaker, activist, and networker among innovative Christian leaders. His dozen-plus books include A New Kind of Christianity, A Generous Orthodoxy, and most recently, Naked Spirituality. He and his wife, Grace, live in Florida and have four adult children and two granddaughters. He’s an avid wildlife and outdoors enthusiast who believes God’s first language is this amazing universe.

Forum Setting: The Forum is a 40 year tradition and is sponsored by the Wisconsin Council of Churches and The Christian Century magazine.Enjoy four and one half days of worship, workshops, discussion, and contemplation in an ecumenical retreat setting on Washington Island, just north of Door County Wisconsin. The week begins with a welcome and opening picnic Monday afternoon. Tuesday through Thursday enjoy morning prayer and workshop sessions with Sara Miles, and optional afternoon discussion groups. Friday begins with a Eucharist, a final workshop and discussion, with departure at noon.

Lodging, meals and recreational opportunities are offered by numerous Island establishments. Registrants will receive a packet of information in early Spring 2013 containing an Island brochure, draft Forum schedule, a ferry schedule and other helpful information. Register early to assure a place at the 2013 Forum – seats are limited and may be filled early in the year. It is advised that you also reserve a place of lodging early, and inquire about refunds should your plans change.
