Board of Directors

The Wisconsin Council of Churches is accountable to its member churches through a Board of Directors made up of clergy and lay representatives from each member judicatory which meets annually. Observers and associate members have one representative each with voice but no vote. The Executive Council, consisting of 10 members selected by the Board, is the chief governing body of the Council between annual Board meetings.

The functions of the Board of Directors include the following:

  • to determine the organization's vision, mission, goals and policies
  • to authorize the Task Forces, Commissions, and Committees deemed necessary to carry out the Council's mission
  • to authorize the establishment of Ecumenical Partnerships and ensure that they operate in accordance with Council policies
  • to make Public Statements in the name of the Wisconsin Council of Churches and to oversee the Public Policy and Corporate Social Responsibility work of the Council
